Subject: Lewis-Smith-Edgington connection

Looking for clues of my family connection known to be in Steubenville, Ohio
in and around l802 where Joseph LEWIS owned a business until his death in
l809 leaving a wife and 5 children.

JOSEPH LEWIS m. Elizabeth Smith, July l2, l795 and had issue:

Eli LEWIS b. April 28, l796

William LEWIS b. Feb. l4, l798

Mary LEWIS b. Feb. 4, l800

Lenas James LEWIS b. Jan. 20, l802

Eliza LEWIS b. in l807

It is not known where Joseph Lewis and Elizabeth Smith were born nor where
the first three children were born.

There were these clues...property transactions tracing back to Cross Creek
Twnship. Washington County, PA, a will exectued by a William Smith, year of
probate l795(the year Joseph and Elizabeth were married). Wm. Smith had
two daughters mentioned in the will, Elizabeth and Nancy. There was a
relationship noted and property transacted between Joseph Lewis and John
Edgington and wife,
Nancy. Does anyone out there recognize any of these names?

Mary LEWIS m James Chambers on Nov. 7, l8l6 in Jefferson County, OH
Mary Chambers/Lewis stated on last census that she was born in W.VA.
John and Nancy Edgington were residents of Brook Cnty., W. Va.

Her mother, Elizabeth Smith /LEWIS m. James Smiley on March l, l8ll
Jefferson County, OH Do not know date or place of death for either of
these people.

Appreciate any help on this stonewall!!!
