I have also found them to be exceedingly unhelpful at that courthouse. When
I called to inquire about records of my G-father's naturalization , I was
rather defensively told that they could look it up in their own time and I
would have to wait. I said of course that was fine. They then said they
would NOT look it up- I had to come in myself or pay a particular local
genealogist to do it. They would "refer" my request to her. (not informing
me of her rates or even her name or anything which might be useful.) I am
going to try to get the info from NARA if I can since these folks are really
unwilling to help. I can't ask family to go down there and put up with such
nonsense.
