Thanks, Kathy, for the additional family info - hope I'm successful in
finding something for you. I suppose the 1890 census is "special" b/c it is
a special census of Union veterans and widows of veterans who were still
living in 1890 - since the original 1890 population schedules were badly
damaged or destroyed by fire &/or water, less than 1% exist.

Nancy, Here is what I have....... I believe they were in Columbiana Co. OH
with these children.....
Samuel S. Maple b.1867, wife Wynona Freshwater
- son Clair Aura Maple b.2/11/1895 wife Hazel Oberholtzer b.1893, married
1919
- son Raymond L. Maple b.1899
- son Henry Freshwater Maple b.1905
I think Samuel's father may have been John A. Maple b.26 February 1840 in
Jefferson Co. OH (2nd Reg. OH vol. inf. company k, private, age 20 when
mustered into service in 1861) I know John had a son named Samuel, but no
dates so can't prove that this Samuel S. is the one.
Why is the 1890 census special?
Thanks again for all your help
