The following are a few newspaper clippings from my grandmother's scrapbooks. While no date is on these, the clippings are from 1900-1920's. She cut them from Knox County newspapers.
Miscellaneous Shower
The operators at the Bell telephone exchange and a number of friends tendered Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bair a miscellaneous shower Thursday evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Rogers, 601 W. Vine street. There were twenty-five guests. The evening was pleasantly spent, games and music furnishing entertainment, and dainty refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Bair were the recipients of many useful presents.

Saying that a reconciliation is out of the question and that she can no longer bear to live with the defendant, Bertha F. Gordon has filed divorce proceedings in common pleas court against Joseph M. Gordon. They were married September 15, 1913. She says that he has been guilty of gross-neglect ever since their marriage. She alleges that as a result of series of quarrels, threats by the defendant, etc., she was compelled to leave him in November, 1915. She believes that they can settle all questions of alimony and custody of children. Wm. M. Koons for the plaintiff.

Death of an Infant
Ada Marie, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fry, new Gambier road, died Sunday at 1:30 a.m., aged six weeks. The funeral was held at the home at 2 p.m. Monday.

J.R. Clutter v. Bessie M. Clutter, decree of divorce granted the defendant on her cross-petition, and custody of minor child awarded defendant. The plaintiff is to pay the costs.

Mr. William Stull, who was ticket agent at the Pennsylvania station for several years, has purchased a fine team of horses. He expects to move to Mrs. Blair's farm on the Delaware road in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Buxton of this city and Dr. and Mrs. J.W. Buxton of Howard went to Wauseon, O., Monday, called there by the death of Mrs. Leander Buxton of that city.

Six young men enjoyed a squirrel supper at the home of Mr. Grover Lake, Sunday evening. Music furnished entertainment during the evening.

The Misses Grace McLaughlin, Dema Rinehart, Bernice Coe, Josephine Tucker, George, Guy and Ernest Tucker, Reed Barker, Earl Wright, Harold Wintermute and Eugene Thatcher are attending high school in Mt. Vernon. Coit Mitchell and Miss Ethel Hobbs are attending Centerburg high school.

Mr. George Frye and his bride, formerly Miss Esther Battey of Centerburg, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Woods, N. Gay street.

Sparta, O., March 15 -- Chester Jenkins, 13-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Newell Jenkins of this place, died at 1:20 o'clock this morning. The little boy pulled the plug out of a washing machine last Monday morning, and was deluged with hot water. The scalds he received resulted in his death. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins. Funeral services at the home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, and burial in the Bloomfield cemetery.

Mr. W.W. Frizzell of Collinsville, Pa., who was here to attend the funeral of his father, the late Mr. W.S. Frizzell, left for his home Monday afternoon. The funeral was held Saturday at Liberty Chapel, where burial was made at the side of Mr. Frizzell's first wife, who was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. W.E. Logsdon of Holmes county. The deceased is survived by his second wife, one daughter, Mrs. Frank Parrott, by his first marriage, and two sons, G.T. and W.W. Frizzell, and one daughter, Mrs. C.E. Snyder, by his second marriage. He was for many years carrier on the mail route between Mt. Vernon and Jelloway.

Mr. D.F. Ewing came home Saturday evening from Holmesville, where he attended the funeral of his brother, the late Mr. Samuel W. Ewing. The deceased was quite well known in Mt. Vernon, having lived here about 11 years some years since.

Chesterville, O. May 16 -- Ex-Governor Frank B. Willis will deliver the class address at the commencement exercises here Friday evening, May 25. The graduates are Sarah Fern Markley, Pauline Rogers, Ina Louise Squires, Naomi Edith Limes, Carl C. Vernon and M. Howard Meredith.
