Hello list,
A few weeks ago I had written about my grandfather FRANK COUSINS spending time temporarily in Proctorville, Ohio, in the autumn of 1920. Well, this past weekend I had the chance to look at some old letters, still in envelopes, that were sent from his friends and family in New Jersey to him in Ohio. Imagine my surprise when I found that the address on the envelopes were to "U S Dam #27, Proctorville, Ohio"
It looks as though he might have been involved in construction of Dam #27. Although the body of the letters to him give no clues as to his occupation there, he must have been living in what must have been "housing" for the workers? I "googled" various things and I read that Dam 27 was completed in 1923, and that near there it looks like there are remnants of worker housing. Do I have this correct? I also read that a series of the old Dams were taken down and replaced.
I would love to learn more about this particular dam, and to see pictures of the site as it existed then. Appreciate any suggestions.
