About ten years ago I visited the Croton Cemetery in Licking County and
noticed many of the tomb stones broken and laying down. There was a man
picking them up and stacking them neatly one on top of the other. There
were about a dozen he had picked up and stacked. I only noticed a few
shattered ones.

I asked him what happened and he said a motorcyclist came into the cemetery
and vandalized it as he rode through. He did alot of damage! The gentleman
said he wasn't sure what they were going to do "this time" with the
tombstones. He suspected they would put those back where they thought they
were supposed to go but the broken ones could not be put back.

I did not find any of the Lincoln family or Warren family that I knew lived
within blocks of the cemetary. Maybe theirs were all broken or maybe they
are in another cemetery near Croton that I have not yet discovered.

I got the impression that this kind of damage had happened at least once
before just prior to this time. I guess there is nothing sacred to some!
