Dear Subscribers to the Licking County, Ohio Mailing List,

William Alden Cooper was born March 22, 1888 in Ohio. He passed away in
April of 1969, in Licking County, Ohio.

William Alden Cooper was a son of William Mills Cooper and Bessie
Penwell. William Mills Cooper was born February 1, 1867, at Suffield,
Hartford County, Connecticut. William Mills Cooper was still in
Suffield, Connecticut in 1912 and served as Probate Judge.

William Mills Cooper was a son of Samuel Alden Cooper, who was born in
1837 at Ticonderoga, New York. Samuel Alden Cooper was a son of Alden
Spooner Cooper, who was born in 1807 at Westfield, Hampden County,
Massachusetts. Alden Spooner Cooper was the seventh of ten children of
Jacob Cooper and Rebecca Spooner.

Thus, William Alden Cooper (1888-1965) was a great great grandson of
Jacob Cooper and Rebecca Spooner. This information was obtained from
~Spooner Saga~ by Esther Littleford Woodworth-Barnes, Newbury Street
Press, Boston, Massachusetts, 1997.

I would like very much to correspond with a descendant of William Alden
Cooper (1888-1965), in order to share more information pertaining to
this Cooper line.

Jacob Cooper (husband of Rebecca Spooner) was named Isaac Cooper at
birth, but his given name was changed to Jacob soon thereafter.
Isaac/Jacob Cooper (1762-1842) was a son of Doctor Samuel Cooper, who
was a son of Samuel Cooper (1673-1725), who was a son of Thomas Cooper
(born 1646), who was a son of Immigrant Thomas Cooper (1675-1675).
Immigrant Thomas Cooper was born in Warwickshire, England and became one
of the proprietors of Springfield, Massachusetts. Hence, he is often
referred to as "Thomas Cooper of Springfield". He was killed by Indians
on October 5, 1675 at Springfield during what came to be called "The
Springfield Massacre".

I own a copy of ~Thomas Cooper of Springfield and Some Allied Families~
by Agnes Thomson Cooper and John Bradley Cooper, Gateway Press, Inc.,
Baltimore, 1987.

To all List Members, I wish you success in your research and I look
forward to meeting other researchers via the List, especially those who
are interested in any of the persons or locales mentioned in the above
text. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Randal W. Cooper
