The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Thursday, January 9, 1908
The death of MRS. A.B. CANFIELD occurred at her home in this city last
Monday night at 11:45 of a complication of diseases, mainly heart trouble,
aged 66 years, 4 months and 6 days. The lady had been quite sick for about
two weeks and her death was no surprise, her family and friends anticipating
the end most any hour.
She was born in Licking County, Ohio, August 24, 1841, and with her parents
came to Lucas County in 1855 where she was married to A.B. CANFIELD, who
survives her, March 11, 1860. They resided in Lucas County until their
removal to this county in 1882, settling near Carl where they resided until
a few years ago when they moved to Corning which place has since been their
residence. During their residence in this county MRS. CANFIELD has enjoyed
the respect and friendship of all who knew her.
Besides the husband there are left to mourn two children, MRS. GRANT BRITTON
of Corning, and WALTER CANFIELD of Goodland, Kan., one brother A.B. CUTLER
of near Chariton, a number of relatives and a host of friends. The funeral
was held on Wednesday at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. Guy Prather.
Interment in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Washington Township.
