This may or may not be your Margaret, but may be worth checking. All of Selmon and Margaret's children that have been found in the 1870 census seem to be living with other unrelated families.
I found a Margaret Gill in Appanoose County Iowa, Center township in 1870, age 41 Widowed, born in Ohio, with a 9 yr old son Addison R or B, born in Iowa.
This Margaret appears in the Appanoose County census in 1880 in Centerville, age 53, Widowed; with her mother Isabel Pierson age 77, and son Addison B, listed as Pierson, but I think he is a Gill, age 19
