Debbie,
I have the following information:
William WESTBROOK married Dorcas MOFFETT
Frederick County, Virginia
1 January 1811
by Rev. William Hill

My Grandparents were:
Stephen and Mary "Polly" Ritter
who were married in Frederick County, Virginia
11 January 1811
by Rev. James Walls.

Stephen Ritter and John Bell found St. Louisville, Licking Co., Ohio in 1837/38. It appears your family may have been living in the same area as my RITTER family in Virginia.

Christian Streit was the Lutheran minister in Frederick County, Virginia about the time of your William WESTBROOK's birth as you stated it as being about 1785.
Rev. Streit, in 1785 started a Latin school in Winchester. There was alot of opposition to Streit's Latin school but we know that the REV. WILLIAM HILL who was a Presbyterian minister later became associated with Streit in the running of a female seminary.

Since we know William WESTBROOK was in Frederick County, Virginia I checked the Northern Virginia County Landowners for evidence of where the WESTBROOK families may have owned Land in 1815 and found nothing for WESTBROOK; however, there were many by the name WEST. Trying to get a bearing on where the WESTBROOKS may have lived I checked the MOFFETT and WISE names. I found a number of them:

Culpeper County, VA :
MOFFETT, Daniel; ; on Thorntons River; 12N.
WISE, Mannin=8W.

Fairfax County, VA:
MOFFUTT, William; Little FAlls; 12NE.
WISE, John, heirs, of District; Holmes Run' 12E.
WISE, Peter, of District; Holmes Run; 12NE.

Fauquier County, VA (located next to Frederick Co.)
MOFFET, Jesse; Carter's Run; 8NW.
MOFFITT, John H., heirs; Ceder Run; 13NE.

Independent City of Alexandria
WISE, Peter, Nath'l, John, George K.,

Loudoun Co., VA
MOFFETT, John, heirs=8SE.
MOFFETT, Robert & Josiah, exor; Seelon; 4S.
MOFFETT, Robert; Seelon; 4S.

Madison County, VA
WISE, Mary=10N.

Prince William County
WISE, Neim, of Richmond; Newport;.

Rockingham County, VA
MOFFETT, Anderson, Rev'd; North Shenandoah RV; 16.5 NE.
MOFFETT, Mary, life; North RV; 15S.
WISE, Adam, Senior; Oak Land; 12SW.
WISE, John, heirs; Wises Run, Bryry Branch; 11SW, 13W.

Stafford County, VA
MOFFATT, Thomas=9SW.

The JOHN WISE, heirs recorded both in Loudoun and Rockingham County, Virginia are most likely the same person and ties this family together as the same. It might be worth it to find the probate records for this JOHN WISE. If he had any connections to the WESTBROOK or MOFFETT families it might show-up in those documents.

In Rockingham County, Virginia, there are many WISE and MOFFATT families as shown by many early marriage records. In addition, there is a Moffett's Church. There is record of a meeting held on 15 Dec 1787 with Brother Anderson MOFFETT and Brother John LINCOLN being present (this is President Abraham LINCOLN's family before moving west). Rev. Anderson MOFFETT (1746-1835) was pastor for many years of the Smith Creek church located at or near New Market and at the time of this meeting was living on a farm beween New Market and Mt. Jackson. He then (abt 1800) moved to a splendid plantation on the Shenandoah River a mile or two west of New Market on the Rockingham/Shenandoah County line. There is quite alot about LINCOLN and MOFFETT.
