For interested researchers and descendants of Lowell
FARR & Phoebe HOLFORD FARR. I had said last oct. 2nd,
that I would get back to you but do not have your
email addresses so this will have to do.
Additional research has unearthed a little more
information on the 9th of their 10 children, Lauren A.
Farr, aka L.A. Farr. Lauren, born 1855, was married
about 1877 to Hermina Drusendohl 1856-1904. They had
seven children. Hermina died in 1904. Lauren remarried
in 1909 to Melanie Weisse, a woman from Germany who
was 27 years his junior. They had one child in 1910, a
son Holford G. Farr. L.A. sold his some land and
arranged to finance Melanie in a millinery business
downtown Elyria in the early 20's. She divorced him
in 1928 & remarried very soon thereafter to a local
younger fellow Paul Gerasch.
In 1929 Lauren went to live in San Antonio, Bextar Co.
TX (at the age of 74) with his son Holford, who at the
age of 20 was a newly wed himself. Strangely....
Lauren's now divorced wife and her new husband lived
in the same town.
L.A. returned to Ohio in 1937, when his son Holford
went to Oregon to live. L.A. came back to live with
the 4th of his 7 children by his 1st wife. That son
was Herschel L. Farr aka "Hershie" who lived in
Bellvue, Huron Co. OH. Lauren died in Bellvue on 5
Feb. 1940 at the age of 85 years. He is buried in the
South Murray Ridge Cemetery beside his 1st wife.
There is a beautiful and unique marker there that has
no death date on it for him. Perhaps some family
relative will want to do that done someday.
