Subject: [OHLUCAS] DOYLE from Toledo and ALLEN from Swanton
Date: Sun, 19 Mar 2000 09:30:28 EST
I am looking for any information on the following family:
Edwin Clayton DOYLE (b. 1851) and his wife Ellen (b. 1861) lived at 353 S. RR
Ave, Toledo (a house that they owned free and clear), when they were
ennumerated in the 1900 census. They lived with their son Fred, born in
1891, and had another living child who did not live with them at the time.
Edwin was a baggageman for the railroad. Both Edwin and Ellen were born in
Ohio, but I couldn't find Edwin in the 1880 soundex at the National Archives.
Edwin's parents were born in Ireland, and Ellen's parents were from
Massachussets and New Jersey.
Fred married a Hazel Gertrude ALLEN (b. abt 1891) and they had a daughter,
Donna, in 1916 or 1917, so they must have been married slightly before that
time.
Hazel had a sister Blanche, who, according to family legend, died of the
"black diptheria" at age 13. The Allens were supposedly from Swanton.
I would appreciate any bits of information, substantiated or not, that could
be provided - I don't have much of a toe-hold on these guys! (What
information I have was initially provided by Donna Doyle, and I was able to
substantiate some with the census. Haven't had a chance to get to the old
city directories yet....)
Thank you!
Nancy
