GOOD SHEPHERD CHURCH
Rev. Father O'Brien has just received a letter from Rev. J.G. Crehan,
formerly assistant pastor of the Good Shepherd church, stating that he
is now out of danger. Rev. Fr. Crehan was critically ill of pneumonia.
Lenten services were begun yesterday in Good Shepherd church, with
services at 8 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday and
Friday evenings until Easter.
FUNERAL OF WILLIAM FINLAY
Impressive services were held yesterday afternoon by the Elks, assisted
by the Rev. J.C. Ferrier, at the funeral of William Finlay, of 700
Nevada street. The floral tributes were elaborate. The interment was
at Forest cemetery.
DEATH OF JOHN LANEY
John Laney, of Rossford, died at Alexandria, Ind., Tuesday, of
pneumonia. The body was brought home last night. He was 17 years old,
and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Laney, of 174 Oak street,
Rossford. he had been working at Alexandria, in the glass works. The
funeral will probably be held tomorrow afternoon.
DIE OF PARALYSIS
Mrs. Anna Gronenschild, of Rossford, was stricken with paralysis several
days ago and died at 8 o'clock last night. She was 67 years old and
leaves a husband, Joseph Gronenschild, three sons, Joseph and John
Gronenschild and Peter Schlings, and one daughter Mrs. Charles Dublicik.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning from the Rossford Catholic
church and burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
DEATH OF MISS CUMMINS
Miss Margaret Cummins, 89, died Wednesday morning at her home of her
sister, Mrs. Nancy Wynn, with whom she had lived 60 years. She was born
in Rockingham county, Virginia, came to this state when a child. For
sixteen years she had been totally blind, but her life was a lesson in
patience to the host of friends with whom she came in contact. The
funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 from the residence. Burial
will be in the family lot in North Oregon cemetery.
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL
Mrs. S.W. Beckwith is visiting in Carey, O.
Arthur Cousino was surprised at his home at 623 Plymouth street, Monday
evening. Dancing, musci and luncheon and games were enjoyed.
Miss Anna Ritzman and Miss Marion Clarke entertained a few of their
friends at the home of Miss Clarke, 557 Oak street, Tuesday evening.
The evening was spent in games, music and recitations, after which
refreshments were served. The guests were Mrs. C. Baker, Misses Carrie
Betts, Martha Garbe, Josephine Jaegly, Mary Davies, Naomi Davies,
Lillian Guncheon, Frances Guncheon, Flora Brill, Claude Bunte, Kathleen
Smith, Mildred Chesbrough, Elsie Clarke.
Miss Addie Dushane was pleasantly surprised by a number of her friends
Monday evening. The occasion was her sixteenth birthday. The house was
decorated with flowers and bunting. Miss Dushane was the recipient of
many beautiful gifts. The guests were Harry Beaudry, Al Nohl, Ed Threm,
Bernard Jennings, Merl Lazzette, Tom Dushane, Frank Navarre, Eli
Dushane, Rome Homer, MissesElsie Sommers, Agnest Boiselle, May Navarre,
Ada Duvall, Maud Navarre, ---(rest cut off).
