Thanks to information given by Tanya on this list I have got the will of
John HALLETT who died 1899 in Toledo. He owned the " Hallett Farm " which
bordered on the north side of the Ottawa river in Washington Township and I
wonder if this gave the name to the Hallett railway tower and Hallett
Avenue? He was a widower but does not name children in his will. If any
one recognises any of the names below who were beneficiaries of his will I
would be pleased to hear from them and send a transcript of the will.
From Toledo:
James CONNARS
Patrick DRISCOLL
Mrs. Bridget DRISCOLL widow of Daniel DRISCOLL
John DALY
Mrs Isabella E. DUDLEY and her grand child Laura E. SHIRLEY
George SHIRLEY
From Washington Township, Lucas Couny, Edmund COLLINS
He got the use of the 200 acre farm and two city properties on Summit St.
occupied by B A BAKER & Company for the rest of his natural life. After he
died the properties went to John HALLETT's nephews and nieces in England
and Australia.
Mr Collins would lose the use of the properties if used as "as a location
for the sale of or use of beer, ale, whiskey or other intoxicating drinks "
This is interesting as John's father was an an alcoholic who stole for his
addiction and was transported from England to Australia.
Hoping that you listers can fill out any local information and even make a
connection.
