"Toledo Blade", Thurs., March 26, 1936:
John Gardiner, 33, a life-long resident of Put-in-Bay, died yesterday in Toledo hospital after an illness of four years. He had been visiting his sister, Mrs. Grace Holt, 1111 Michigan street.
Besides his sister, he is survived by a grandfather, John Dukes of Put-in-Bay. Services will be held tomorrow in the Abele funeral home, Cherry street, at 2 P.M. The body will be kept in a vault there until May 1, when it will be taken to Put-in-Bay for burial.
