Delores is right, you can write to the Mahoning County Courthouse for death
info. Add "Probate Dept" to the address as follows:

Probate Dept
Mahoning County Courthouse
120 Market Street
Youngstown OH 44503

...and include a self addressed stamped envelope. There were no certificates,
however, before 20 DEC 1908. Deaths were recorded in a book -- *IF* the
physician, friend, or family member stopped at the courthouse and reported the
death to the clerk. Reporting was not enfored by the law.

The death records available at the courthouse span the following dates: 1 Apr
1856 through 31 Mar 1857, and 1 Apr 1864 through 20 Dec 1908. After 20 Dec
1908, birth & death records were recorded by the County Health Dept, not the
Probate Dept., and are not available from the courthouse.
