Well, I know we are here to search for our ancestors, but somehow I think
the stories of the city that showed up here, and I hope, will continue to
do so, helps us establish the tone and history of Youngstown. For those of
you who have patiently put up with this, I will avoid too much more
reminiscing. But it sure is fun! Hi, Marie! What a surprise! It only took a
second to react to your maiden name. I have forwarded the whole digest to
Pat who should get in touch with you. I will send you her email address,
just in case. Betty and Rita are also on email and I have forwarded it to
them. Maybe I will get them interested enough in genealogy now to help me
with this task. Thanks to all who responded. I remember North Side pool
also - there was a Dairy Queen across the street from it and we usually had
enough coins to get something there. There was also a bar next to the Dairy
Queen which had a glass brick front which was bombed one night - just a
reminder of some of the reputation for mob action that Youngstown never
shook until the mills closed and nobody had enough money to gamble anymore.
