I forgot that there was some intimation that posts of this site should have
some "overt" genealogical seaching angle, and not be pure "how it was".
So for anyone searching for Gillingham or Benson names, my father's pool
room partners were Harry Benson, and then later Paul Gillingham. Even
earlier than "the pool hall", my father was in business with an Arthur
Watkins --fruit and veggie stand, on Mahoning just "town-side" of West Ave.
subsequently he was also in the haberdashery business with a very fine man
I remember very well and very fondly ---Mike De Rose. Mike occasionally
took me wtih him to Pittsburgh, on Sunday's, ---to buy clothes for the
store from wholesalers who were Jewish --and thus open Sunday's but not
Saturday's.
In those days, a man's religion "defined him" ---not his politics or wallet.
Hope these four names "qualifies" the prior post as "genuinely
genealogical". Someone reading this might have one of them for an ancestor.
