There is a city named Girard just outside of Youngstown, Ohio. Youngstown is in Mahoning County and has a large Slovak population. It is the Sister City to Spissa Nova Ves. Girard is a few miles north in Trumbull County. The newspaper that covers that area is the Youngstown Vindicator. Hope this helps.
