Brier Hill indeed exists and is a place worth exploring! It has a rich heritage. I grew up in Brier Hill during the fifties and sixities and was at the annual Brier Hill festival this past august. The annual festival is testimony to the love many hold for the old neighborhood. Check a Youngstown map and zip code 44510 for street references. Brier Hill has a special reputation and occupies a warm spot in the hearts of everyone who lived there. Its beginnings are rooted in the immigrant boom from 1880 through 1920. It was largely an Italian enclave of immigrant settlers though it seems the place always enjoyed a rich cultural diversity. The place sits on the banks of the Mahoning River and was once a pristine wilderness inhabited by Iriqouis. The steel industry, traceable to the Revolutionary War, was the attraction for many immigrants seeking employment. Deep roots are found there. Good luck with your inquiry and stop in Kayo's Bar if you get a chance. Someone there w!
ill likely know your relative.
