I'm a Wattenbarger descendant. John Jacob Wuertemberger
was the second generation in America. He was born 1757
in Berks Co., Penn. He died 1829, New Middletown, Ohio.
He married Catherine Engel. No official record could be found
of their marriage. She was born in 1761 and died in 1807 at
the age of 46. John and Catherine had twelve children.
About 1803 his name was changed to Whittenberger. His
second wife was Mrs. Hannah Lewis. Six children were born.
Down through the generations some other variations of the
name are Wettonbarger..Whittenberg...Whittenbarger.
Wattenberger...Wertenberger.
