Hi Mary-Ella,
I've found what I believe is the Death Certificate of Evan Treharn [sic] (David's father).
The reference is: Ohio Death Certificates, Mahoning Co., volume 1953, certificate #33379; 30 May, 1916.
The Local History and Genealogy Center at the Warren/Trumbull Co. Library has Ohio Death Certificates from 1908 through 1944 on microfilm. You can reach the Center's website at:
http://www.wtcpl.lib.oh.us/lh&g.htm
A copy of the Death Certificate should cost only a couple of dollars. If you go in person, you can make a copy from the microfilm for $0.25.
The Death Certificate will give you the names of Evan's parents, provided that the person who gave the information for the death certificate knew what they were. In any case, if you check the certificate, and it *is* the one you want, you have a death date and can check for an obituary.
The Youngstown Public Library, Main Branch, on Wick Avenue has microfilms of the Youngstown Vindicator and the Youngstown Telegram which you can check.
I hope this helps.
Dave Williams
