North Jackson- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the First Federated Church in North Jackson for Earl Ruggles , age 86 of North Jackson who died Tuesday evening in his home.
Earl was born Nov. 4, 1918 in Berlin Center and was the son of the late Frank and Ruth (Goldner) Ruggles. He had been a self0 employed farmer for 20 years and had also been a self-employed carpenter many years ago. He was a member of the First Federated Church since 1928 and was a charter member of the North Jackson Vol. Fire Dept. where he had served for 27 years. Earl was a member of the Mahoning County Soil and Water Conservation District for 30 years, Past Director of Ohio Soil & Water Conservation District for 18 years, past Eagle Scout, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher at the First Federated Church.
Earl leaves his wife the fromer Wanda Eloise Dierkes whom he married Sept. 12, 1943. He also leaves two daughters Gayle (John) Peterson of Chantilly, Virginia, Myrna (Robert)Osner of Austintown, a son Gray (Paula)Ruggles Sr. of North Jackson and five grandchildren, Gary Ruggles, Jr., Bill Ruggles, Matt Peterson, Lori Ruggles, Jason Peterson and 2 great grandchildren ;Alyssa and Johnathan Ruggles. A brother Stewart Ruggles preceded him in death. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel from 6-8 PM Thursday and 1 hour prior to services on Friday. The family request that materal contributions can be made to the First Federated Church Memorial Fund.
