I think we could have a connection, but in my list of Amasa's descendants there is no Steven. The children I have for Amasa are: Hannah, Wheeler (perhaps), Sarah, Dellano, Rhoda, Asel, Eunice, Lemuel, Louise and Jedida.
Amasa was born around 1765 and died in Marion County in 1849.
As for the Ryans, I have very little info. Catherine Ryan and Mary Ryan married two Sherman brothers less than a week apart in 1829 in Marion County. The only Ryan I could find in the census at that time is Edward Ryan. In the 1880- census I blieve, there was a Barbara Ryan living with Catherine Ryan Sherman. I believe Barbara was her mother... so the possible Ryan parents of these people are Edward and Barbara Ryan/Ryon.
What information do you have linking Steven to Amasa?
