Date: Sun, 16 Feb 2003 12:20:55 -0000
The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists announces the formation of an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group.
The purpose of the group will be the discussion of advanced genealogical
methodology as presented in case studies which have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications.
The group will meet monthly, the second Saturday of the month, starting 8
March 2003, 10:00 am, at the Medina County District Library annex meeting room. The library is located at 210 South Broadway St., Medina, OH. Each meeting is expected to last about one and one-half hours. There will be no meetings in July, August, or December.
The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Enrollment is
limited to 12 individuals, so register early. Any experienced genealogical
researcher is welcome to enroll.
As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M.
Litchman's NGS article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from NGSQ, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343.
Each participant is requested to read at least four times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the first discussion appeared in the *National Genealogical Society Quarterly*, Vol. 89, no. 4, December 2001. It is titled, "A Classic Census Problem - Identifying Fathers before 1850: John Bulson of Orange County, New York", starting on p. 259.
