Old School falls to wrecker's ball
Daily Sentinel 10/20/99
__________________________
The walls of the old Sugar Run School in Pomeroy came
tumbling down on Tuesday.
The building was constructed in 1870 and was in continuous
use as a school until it closed in 1962.
The building was made up of seven classrooms, including one
room which was reserved for the instruction of German.
Minerva Pryor, Bernice Rinehart, and Bob Roberts are among the
well known teachers to have taught in the building, and Emma Seitz
served as the sixth grade teacher and principal for some 40 years.
