WILL Nola Knight Will, formerly of Canal Winchester, died Monday, September 24, 2001. She was born in Chester, Meigs Co., Oh. on September 23, 1908 to Ida and Ernest Knight. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Victor and her parents. Her loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Jo and John Nicholson of Canton, Oh., with whom she resided survive her. Also surviving are her grandson and wife, Jeffrey and Laura Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Maxine Nicholson, all of Rocky River, Oh.; brother, Earl Knight of Middleport, Oh.; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Eleanor Knight of Chester, Oh.; sisters-in-law, Mary Kilpatrick and Betty Loucks; and many nieces and nephews. Nola was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Canal Winchester Senior Citizens. She was a teacher in Meigs County and retired from Canal Winchester Schools in 1970. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 26 with the funeral!
service at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 West Waterloo St., Canal Winchester with the Rev. Nena Bauman officiating. Burial will be at Chester Cemetery, Meigs Co., Oh., Friday, September 28 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith United Methodist Church, Canal Winchester.

Harley Hendricks
Died: Saturday, September 22, 2001

POMEROY -- Harley Hendricks, 75, of 34959 Twp. Road 3, Pomeroy, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.

Born Nov. 7, 1925, in Pomeroy, he was the son of the late Harley F. Hendricks and Eva Edna Ruschel Hendricks Dessauer.

He is survived by his wife, Irene W. Erwin Hendricks; and a daughter, Sandra Hendricks Manske.

A memorial service will be announced for a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy.

Reva Norris
Died: Thursday, September 20, 2001

LETART FALLS -- Reva Norris, 79, of Ravenswood, W.Va., formerly of Letart Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at Eldercare of Ripley, W.Va.

Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Gay, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ogal C. and Edna Young Evans.

She is survived by a stepson, Thomas Junior Norris, and a stepdaughter, Mildred Louise Gathers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Norris, and a son, Clarence Randy Norris.

Services will be Sunday, 2 p.m., at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Cara Gluesencamp
Died: Wednesday, September 19, 2001

PORTLAND -- Clara Gluesencamp, 75, of Portland, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, W.Va.

Born April 23, 1926, in Olive Twp., Meigs County, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Martha Kibble Hauber. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Gluesencamp, and daughters Shirley Jean Theiss, Linda Lou Bailey and Nick Dawn Wilson.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cremeens Funeral Home, Cremeens, with burial in Stiversville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

George Kalatta

SYRACUSE -- George Kalatta, 83, of Syracuse, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.

Born July 7, 1918, in Stratton, he was the son of the late George and Mary Popovich Kalatta. He is survived by his wife, June Sayre Kalatta.

Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Genevieve Well
Died: Wednesday, September 19, 2001

POMEROY -- Genevieve Jennie Well, 87, of 129 Laurel St., Pomeroy, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, W.Va., following an extended illness.

Born Oct. 19, 1913, in Hemlock Grove, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Eula Wright Welker. She was a retired Kroger employee, a member of the American Legion auxiliary, 8 et 40 Club and Pomeroy Church of Christ.

She is survived by a sister, Eileen Welker of Pomeroy, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Well; and three brothers, Gerald, Ralph and William Welker.

Services will be Saturday, 1 p.m., at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

LETART FALLS -- Pearl Grace Adams, 94, of Letart Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Overbrook Nursing Center, Middleport.

She was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Dorcas, daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Margaret Wilbarger Weaver.

She is survived by a son, Clarence J. Boone Adams.

Services will be Friday, 1 p.m., at Cremeens Funeral Home, Racine. Burial will be in Letart Falls Cemetery.

Charles Manuel
Died: Tuesday, September 18, 2001

RACINE -- Charles R. Manuel, 81, of Racine, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.

Born May 20, 1920, in Racine, he was the son of the late Max and Effie Beaver Manuel.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Snyder Manuel; a son, Charles Manuel Jr.; and daughters, Charlotte Skender, Joyce Manuel-Wolfe, Carolyn Robinson, Joan Manuel, Carmen Manuel, Jenny Manuel and Jane Graham.

Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will be in Plants Cemetery.

POMEROY -- Roger L. Spencer, 81, of Pomeroy, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.

Son of the late Albert and Myrtle Heaton Spencer, he was born July 12, 1920, in Pomeroy.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Brown Spencer; and a daughter, Debra Spencer.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Calling hours are today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Died: Friday, September 14, 2001

POMEROY -- Gertrude Eva Bass, 85, of Pomeroy, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.

Born April 3, 1916, in Pomeroy, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Daisy Smith Ruschel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Bass. She is survived by children Eleanor Lawson, Jean Young and Carolyn Bissell.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Ewing Funeral Home, Pomeroy, with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Calling hours will be observed Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Opal Basim
Died: Thursday, September 13, 2001

LONG BOTTOM -- Opal Marie Basim, 74, of Long Bottom, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Arcadia Nursing Center, Coolville.

Born Nov. 10, 1926, in Coolville, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith Wyers. She attended Gospel Baptist Church in Torch.

She is survived by a son, Paul Basim of Long Bottom; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Debbie Basim of Reedsville; a daughter, Patty Basim of Broadwell; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Gary Molahan of Ironton, Donna and James Rupe of Reedsville, Bonnie and Ed Batton of Reedsville and Nola and Russell Williams of Spring Valley, W.Va.; brothers Jack, Ronnie and Robert Wyers, all of Ravenna, and Raymond Wyers of Cambridge; sisters Doris Bowman of Elizabeth, W.Va., and Betty Lou Wyers of Canton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Basim; children Marlene Basim Lantz, Martha Buchanan and Bertha Ann Basim; and a sister, Donna Jean Wyers.

Services will be Monday, 11 a.m., at White-Moquin Funeral Home, Coolville, with Pastor Jay Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Meigs County Memory Gardens.

POMEROY -- Dwight Leon Hysell, 90, of Pomeroy, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Pomeroy.

He was born Nov. 28, 1910, in Meigs County, son of the late Henry and Emma Gilmore Hysell.

He is survived by daughters Vivian Jones, Emma Carol Roush-Crow and Clara Mae Hysell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred I. Hysell.

Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Fisher-Acree Funeral Home, Middleport. Burial will be in Miles Cemetery, Rutland.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 9 p.m.

REEDSVILLE -- Phyllis W. Hetzer, 80, of Reedsville, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her home.

Born Sept. 24, 1920, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of Edith Boring Erdman of Belpre and the late Ira H. Boring.

She is survived by her husband, John V. Hetzer; a son, John H. Hetzer; and a daughter, Janet Sue Hoffman.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at White-Moquin Funeral Home, Coolville. Burial will be in Reedsville Cemetery.

POMEROY -- Brenda S. Tatterson Pullins, 50, of 33100 Route 33, Pomeroy, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at her residence.

Born Feb. 15, 1951, in Mason, W.Va., she was the daughter of Clarence Brown of Belpre, and Violet Brown of Pomeroy.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Gerald Pullins Jr.; and children Robert Hood, Lisa Moodispaugh and Kelli Tatterson.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Rocksprings Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ewing Funeral Home in Pomeroy on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to noon.
