Listservers,

I don't believe this has been talked about much and I will keep it short.

You have several pay sites online for genealogy. I sometimes list when
these are free, etc. I don't like promoting paysites or any particular one.

As an example, Ancestry, has grown quite a bit. One of their best features
is the online Census files. These are actual copies of Census files that
they took pictures of. This ranges from 1790-1930. Some of the Decades
are indexed, 1790-1850 and 1920. They have about 1/3 of 1930 images
online and growing, not OHIO yet, FYI.

I have searched some of the non-indexed images and found some of my
ancestors that were not indexed anywhere. I knew where they lived
approximately and searched the area and their names were really messed
up, to say the least. You can copy the images down and save them for
your records, also.

So when Ancestry, Family TreeMaker, etc gives you a free trail, take a look
when you can. You may want to join for a month and see what you can
find versus a year.

You just might find what you are looking for,

Mark
