One of the last things that Curtis sent me was this article about a Spring in Pomeroy. It was in the newspapers last month. I have edited it somewhat not to get into trouble for copyrighting.

Hope you enjoy it,

POMEROY If you want a really good drink of water, this is the place to come, Jim Fry said...from a spring located near the entrance to the Rock Springs Fairgrounds.
Fry and Roy Grueser,... which handles the upkeep of the spring..., were there recently to clean up the park...
Its a job that has to be taken care of every year or so...to keep the water good to use, like its been for several hundred years, he continued. The spring is inside whats called the spring house, a cave-like structure built of rock up against the side of a hill.
The stone shelving inside, according to Grueser, was where residents stored milk and other perishables before the time of refrigeration.
...
Referred to as an Indian watering hole by oldtimers, the spring has been producing water for the community for centuries.
"People have never stopped coming here to get water. ...to fill their jugs with spring water. They call it their 'coffee water,"Grueser said.
He said one of the nice things about spring water is that it comes in at the same temperature winter and summer.
Fry and Grueser said the community of Rock Springs was named for the many springs in the area. Now, only a few remain...
A house built in 1830 by Leonard Carleton sat in front of the spring house and operated as an inn for 42 years. It was a favorite overnight stopping place...to market in Pittsburgh.
The attraction to herders was ...the plentiful supply of water provided by the springs.
