DINNER GUEST
Mrs. Elizabeth HUBER entertained several guests at her home on Butternut
Avenue Tuesday noon with an informal dinner. Guests included Mrs. Mary
HUBER, Mrs. Len HUBER, daughter, Ruth, son Paul and Mrs. Ruby ERB.

ATTENDS FUNERAL Mrs. Glenroy EWING has returned to her home on Lincoln Hill
from Franklin, Indiana, where she attended the funeral services conducted for
her brother-in-law, Rev. Clarence NAYLOR.

NEW YEARS VISITOR
Miss Kathryn HUBER of Athens came Wednesday to visit over the New Years
holiday with her mother, Mrs. Lena HUBER and family of Union Avenue.

ILL AT HOME
Mrs. Harry VANCE is ill at her home on Mulberry Avenue.

GALLIPOLIS VISITORS
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob ROLLER of Mulberry Avenue dined in Gallipolis Saturday at
the Swan restaurant. Mr. ROLLER celebrated his birthday on that day and
received many gifts from his friends.

RETURN TO COLUMBUS
Miss Althea Faye and Donley REIBEL who were holiday guest of their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Henry REIBEL at their home on Pleasant Ridge, have returned to
Columbus. Returning with them were Leola CARDIN and David SLAGEL, who were
week end guest here.

VISIT RELATIVES
Ica WARNER of Spring Avenue has returned home from Akron where she has been
the guest of friends and relatives.

RETURNS FROM COLUMBUS
Roger MORGAN who accompanied Joe OHLINGER to Columbus has returned to his
home on the Athens road. Joe returned to his employment there after visiting
over the holiday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry OHLINGER of Lincoln
Hill.

MRS. FRICK RETURNS
Mrs. John FRICK has returned to her home on the Athens road from New Albany,
Indiana, where she has been the guest of her daughter.

IN AMESVILLE
Carles and Jimmy LOCHARY, sons of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. LOCHARY of Lincoln Hill
are visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. HENRY of Amesville.

GUESTS RETURN
Rev. and Mrs. S. E. KAETZEL of Nova, O., and Mrs. L. R. FARMER, daughter
Marilyn and son Leroy of Mansfield, who have been the guests of Mrs. Mary
MILLER and daughter Miss Marie MILLER of Lasley Street, returned Wednesday to
their homes. Another guest at the Miller home is Mrs. Loren CAVERLEE of
Huntington who came Thursday and who will visit here until Sunday.

VACATION ENDS
Miss Margaret Ann STRAUSS who has been enjoying a brief vacation with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto STRAUSS of Webe Terrance has returned to her
studies at the Christ Hospital school of nursing in Cincinnati.

CLASS TO MEET
The Whatsoever Class of the First Presbyterian Church will meet Friday
evening, Jan. 2, at the church. Hostesses will be Mrs. B. C. MCBRIDE, Mrs.
Minnie BEVERAGE, Mrs. Lillian STEIFF, and Mrs. C.T. SHUMAKER. Devotions will
be in charge of Mrs. Sarah PROBST and Mrs. J. N. HUMPHREY will be Chairmen of
the entertainment committee.

CHARLESTON VISITORS
Mr. and Mrs. Pames FAULKNER are the guest of relatives in Charleston, W. Va.

VISITING HERE
Mrs. James OILER and daughter and son of Haydenville are the guests this week
of friends and relatives in Syracuse.

PASSES NAVY EXAM
Jack Ubry, who left Monday for Cincinnati to take a final examination for
entrance in the U.S. Navy, passed the examination, according to word received
by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul SMITH. Jack, who attended Middleport high
school where he was an outstanding member of musical and athletic
organizations, was sent to Norfolk, Va.

MRS. WISE ILL
Mrs. W. H. WISE is seriously ill at her home on N. Second Ave. and Hudson St.
Mrs. WISE has been suffering from pneumonia.

RETURNS HOME

Miss Ana Lou UBRY, who bas been employed as a telephone operator in
Huntington, has been granted a leave of absence because of ill health and has
returned to her home here.



BRADFORD

Bible School attendance Sunday December 28th was 67.

Pvt. Everett LIGHTFOOT of Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, arrived Sunday
morning to enjoy a furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas
LIGHTFOOT.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence MIGHT Jr. of Rushville spent the holiday here with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Might.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Cambr?????? [hole in the newspaper] spent Christmas Day
with relatives at Milton, W. Va.

Mr. and Mrs. John SISSON and children of Norwalk visited over Christmas with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence MIGHT.

Raymond KING who is employed at Springfield has been visiting here with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne KING.

Mr. John LEE ?? and family visited Thursday with relatives at Syracuse and
Racine.

Mr. and Mrs. Pearl JORDAN and children of Jackson spent Christmas with her
parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed RUSSELL.

Mrs. Ella HYSELL of Bradbury visited Sunday with her daughter Flora
HENDRICKS.

Mr. and Mrs. William HOBBS and daughter, Miss Mary CALDWELL, Vernal and Peck
CALDWELL all of Troy, O., spent Christmas here with Mr. and Mrs. Vernal
CALDWELL Sr.

Lawrence and Philip MIGHT who are employed at Norwalk have been visiting
their parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence MIGHT.

Mrs. Mary HUBBARD of Syracuse visited Christmas Day with her brother Arthur
HENDRICKS and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph FRYE and son Paul of Dayton visited over the holiday week
end with Mr. and Mrs. John ESKEW.

Charles BURT employed at Kopperston, W. Va., spent Christmas Day here with
his family and returned to his employment Friday accompanied by Edwin CAMBRON
and Charles BUCK.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin CAMBRON and Mr. and Mrs. Charles BUCK were recent visitors
at Gallipolis.

OAK HILL

Mr. and Mrs. Henry MCDOLE and daughter Joyce and Leda MCDOLE of Toledo spent
Christmas with their parents, Joe MCDOLE and Mr. and Mrs. David SPENCER.

Mrs. Warden OURS and daughter of Ripley, W. Va., were recent guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Raymond FRANK.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy NEWELL and son ???????leston, were recent guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward WHITE.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry MCDOLE, daughter, Joyce, Leda and Spencer MCDOLE, Mr. and
Mrs. Marion WOOD were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert MCDOLE and
family.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy CHRISTY were recent guests of Marion WOOD and family.
