Maria, if you are not overloaded with requests already, I have one. I would
like to know if there is a deed in the courthouse reflecting the purchase of
a farm in Chester twp. by my gggrandfather, James JOHNSON (sometimes spelled
JOHNSTON). He and wife Rachel came to Meigs in 1839 from Pennsylvania. He
is my "brickwall" since I have been unable to discover his parents,
siblings, etc. So any names that might show up on a deed may be relevant.
The farm passed from James to his son Alexander and thereafter to his son
Samuel Johnson, so it was the family farm for probably 100 years. Thanks
for your help.
