Jason,

Someone may need to correct me on this as I am no expert on land patents, but I think you
will find that the handwriting in all the blanks on the land patent will match President
Van Buren's signature which indicates the clerk signed for him.

Most patent land, when sold, as opposed to bounty land, went for about $1.25 an acre I
believe.

And yes, the dates on the patents are usually later than when the buyer actually moved onto
the land.
