Wally & List,

I have run into a group of Craig's that I have been trying
to link a connection to, but so far, have not been able to
accomplish one as of yet. As far as I can tell, these Craig's
entered into Preble County fairly early in it's history. There
were 3 brother's I believe; Hugh, Reason, and Daniel. I have
found in Preble County Common Pleas records where Daniel
kept getting busted and jailed for "Retailing liquor without
a license", and also for "Gaming". I'm assuming that's the
same thing as gambling. Sounds like a real interesting chap.

Anyway .....

Reason Barkley Craig married a woman named Dorcas
Guard in 1833. Daniel Craig had married a woman named
Dorcus Brotherton in 1833. And Hugh Craig married a Anna
Green in 1831. If I remember correctly some, if not all of the
brothers, bounced back and forth between Darke and Preble
counties.

In the 1850 Preble County Census, it shows Daniel listed as
being a Farmer at the age of 42. His wife Dorcus is 48 years
old; and they have the following children: Malissa Ann 17,
Hannah 15, "Lewis" 13, and Mary 7. Also living with them are
Luther Edsil 19, and John Ervin 21. I'm assuming these two
fellows are hired hands. But could possibly be related to
Daniel's wife, Dorcus somehow. Yes, this is one of the Lewis's
that I was chasing .... wrong Lewis. He's somebody's Lewis,
but not mine. I did not know if you had run into these Craig's
in your searching or not. figured I'd mention them in case you
were interested.
