My Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Ann Hickernel was married to John M. Dutton
by her Uncle Rev. Thomas Hickernel who was an early missionary and minister
of the Church of God. The emigrant ancestor David Hickernel had settled in
Cocalico Twp. Lancaster County ,then after the Rev. migrated to Lisburn ,
Cumberland Co. Pa. where the family resided until a western migration began,
Thomas and his brother, John sons of Jacob(David the emigrant) became
ministers for the Church Of God and Thomas went to Wayne County Ohio I
believe , while John remained in Western Pa. Some time in the 1840's Thomas
migrated to Mercer Co. Ohio where he married Charity Deniston. My Great
Grandmother was a daughter of John B. Hickernell , whom we presume may be a
son of Philip , son of David Hickernell the Emigrant. Our only reason for
this belief is that John B named a son James Philip Hickrnell. any
information on this line would be welcome. John B. Hickernell married
Elizabeth Densiton who was a sister of Charity Deniston/Dennison The
Deniston family may have also originated in Cumberland Co. Pa. Marge
