Ray,

This is NOT PERMITTED in many cemeteries as the rubbing can cause further
wear and tear on the all ready degraded lettering.

One cemetery I read about in another state, maybe PA, I just don't remember
any longer, would ONLY permit it by provable relatives. Basically you were
taking responsibility for damage and repairs.
