I am researching Johann or John C. Bauer of Ohio Twshp. Hannibal area.
He immigrated to this area from Switerland. He was born 1781. His
wife's name was Katharina (tombstone)or Catherine (census) from
Prussia. He was a tanner in the hannibal area in 1850 on. They are
buried in the Zion Cemetery on Hannibal hill. Their daughter Elisabeth
married Andrew Hammel of Hessenstahl Germany. Any info on either couple
is appreciated. The Bauers had a son named Fredrick and John and a
daughter Catherine listed on the 1860 census. We believe one of them
might have served in the Civil war. Also if anyone has a township map
for this area or where I might get one for this time frame. Tried the
court house but their records had been destroyed. Thanks Merry Ann
