Subject: Help--I have a real puzzler about the Stephen Knight family
Date: Tue, 7 Sep 2004 15:17:19 -0700
Hi list,
I hope someone can help.
On the 1850 census Green Twp. I find
Stephen Knight age 57
Sarah 55
Nancy 19
Lydia 19
Isabella 19 b.1831
Randolf 17
Samuel 15
Stephen 13 b.1837
William Knight 27
Nancy 21 (wife)
John 3
Sarah 1
According to Eugene Carroll's article in Monroe Co Ohio Families: Page 192
Elizabeth married John McGlumphy. I find an Elizabeth married to John McGlumphy. This Elizabeth is born abt. 1818. I find them in Richhill, Greene, PA.
Also he states that Elizabeth, Nancy, and Lydia (my ancestor) were triplets. I believe that Lydia was born about 1831 but no death date has been found for her as yet.
Eugene makes no mention of another sister named Isabella and he states that Elizabeth was a triplet sister. Also, I find Elizabeth on a 1850 census Richhill and married to John McGlumphy. So...................is Isabella and Elizabeth the same person? How can this be possible since I find Elizabeth in 1850 in PA and Isabella in 1850 living in Monroe.
I also have the same problem with son Stephen.
Eugene states that Stephen married Lucy Conkey and then Charlotte Smith. I find a Stephen Knight b. 1829 in 1850 Richhill, Greene, PA in 1850. Living with wife Lucy.
This Stephen and the above Stephen are 8 years apart in age and again on the 1850 census in PA and in Monroe.
Anyway, I am very confused.............and would appreciate any insight any could offer.
Thanks........................Barb
