Kay, I don't have much information at all. I'll share what I have. My Mary Emma Barnes divorced and left New York sometime between 1875 and 1880. She was in NY 1875 and then I find her on the 1880 Census living with the Pettingell family as a Female other, 32, born in NY Father from Scotland and mother from VT. I know this is my Mary. I looked in OH because I have picture of her and others from OH. This family lived in Hudson, summit, OH.
I have a 1900 Census in Los Angele, CA of an Ira Wilkin born in NY, Father born in NY and mother born in NJ. He was born Feb 1830 Widow.
I have a Death Certificate for Ira Wilkin. He was born Feb 23, 1830, NY Father and mother unknown, married to Mary E. (her death record list her as Mary Emma Wilkin, husband Ira Wilkin deceased) and that he was an Artist. They lived in Sawtelle, CA which is apart of Santa Monica in the Los Angeles area, by the coast. He died Jan 31, 1913. He was almost 83 years old.
There are not many Ira Wilkin's. The death record also indicated that he move to CA 20 years prior, and lived in Sawtelle for 9 years.
In fact I just found the 1900 Census of Ira today and I was surprized he was living a lone and a widow. I thought maybe he was married once before. I was just surprized this couple married so late in years. He was 83 in 1912 and Mary Emma died when she was 68 in 1917. I'm assuming they were married maybe <9> years before Ira died. It's time to look for a marriage licence and probate records.
Anyways this is what I have. It might not match, this couple is a mystery to me. I'll find a connection someday. Happy hunting.
