I am researching the Seif family in Ohio and, recently, I came across listings on the web for "SEIFS SCHOOL (historical)" -- mainly on map web sites. One listing is here -- http://www.placenames.com/us/p1080685

It is (or was) located at latitude: 40.67889, longitude: -82.78389 -- which appears to be in North Bloomfield Township, north of West Point at the corner of County Road 35 and County Road 40 (Galion Road?).

I remember my Dad talking about the Seif School, but I don't know any details -- except, perhaps, that his mother (Hattie Adams Seif) taught there before she married his father (Charles "Charlie" Q. Seif) who was the 2g-grandson of Jacob Seif I, one of the early settlers of Morrow County.

I have searched through the 1880 History of Morrow County but didn't find any information about this school in it.

I'm hoping someone can assist me by providing information about this school and its history. General information about early rural schools in Morrow County (how and why they were established) will be helpful, too.

References to other sources that might have more information about this school, or suggestions as to how I can go about finding more information, also will be very much appreciated!

I am willing to share my information about the Seif family with other researchers.

Thank you!
