Subject: Researcher needed Welsh/Dorsey/Baird
Date: Tue, 8 Sep 1998 14:46:11 EDT
Hi, I just joined this mailing list as I just pinned down my Welsh ancestry
(surname not country:-) I have discovered that my Welsh family were in
Muskingum Co., as early as 1808. I am willing to hire a researcher as it
apperars, correct me if I am wrong, that the Genealogy Soc. does not do any
surname researcher?? So if anyone knows of anyone that does research in this
area, please let me know! I am looking for all of the usual
documents/references for both George Welsh and his descendants as well as the
Dorsey family. My family line is:
Jamima Dorsey m. David Baird Welsh October 27, 1847 (My gg-grandparents).
Jamima's father was Owen who I believe died and is buried in Muskingum Co.,
Owen's parents were John Dorsey and Jamima Gist. I need to know who Owen's
wife was. All I know about Owen is that he was born about 1801. David Baird
Welsh's parents were Banjamin Welsh and Catherine Baird [Benjamin did not die
in Muskingum, but went to IN with another son], I believe Catherine is buried
in Muskingum. Benjamin's parents were George Welsh and Nancy Cannon. There
were from Washington Co., PA and are reputed to have moved to Muskingum in
1808.
I got most of the above information from the Ohio "The crossroad of our
nation" Records & pioneer families, April-June 1962 Vol III, No II and from
"The Welsh Family History, Descendants of George & Nancy Cannon Welsh" 1976,
now I want to seek my own verifications. Both of these resources omitted
source documentation and sources, which is what I am seeking.
If any of you are researching any of these families I would love to share
information with you.
Happy Hunting,
Anita
