Colton Chase Bayly, age 11, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 18,
2009. He was born February 27, 1997, in Zanesville, son of the late Theodore
Alton "Ted" and Janice Slevin Bayly. Colton was in the sixth grade at
Shenandoah Elementary School in Sarahsville, and a member of 4-H. He was
involved with showing rabbits and poultry at the Noble County Fair, and he
enjoyed participating in archery sports. He loved being outside, camping,
fishing, and hunting. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather,
James E. Slevin; and his paternal grandfather, Carlos E. Bayly. He is
survived by his maternal grandmother, Cheryl G. Hedge Slevin of Sarahsville;
paternal grandmother, Barbara A. Daugherty Bayly Koscoe of Cambridge; and
many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends may call Friday, February 20,
2009, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. A

o Bayly, Janice Marie, 40 (Slevin)

Janice Marie Bayly, age 40, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 18,
2009. She was born March 21, 1969 in Cambridge, daughter of Cheryl G. Hedge
Slevin of Sarahsville and the late James E. Slevin. She was a 1986 graduate
of Shenandoah High School, and a 1990 graduate of Ohio University in Athens,
having received a bachelors degree in speech and hearing. She was employed
at the Joyce M. Davis Senior Center in Caldwell, and she was active in 4-H,
having served as an advisor and a member of the 4-H Council. She attended
the Hiramsburg United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed quilting, making
crafts, and raising rabbits. Joining her in death are her husband, Theodore
Alton "Ted" Bayly, whom she married November 19, 1994; and one son, Colton
Chase Bayly. Surviving in addition to her mother are one sister, Julie
(Fred) Wiley of Summerfield; three brothers, J.C. Slevin and Joe Slevin both
of Sarahsville, and Jerry (Chris) Slevin of Kennonsburg; and five

Theodore Alton ''Ted'' Bayly, age 39, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday,
February 18, 2009. He was born March 2, 1969, in Cambridge, Ohio, son of
Barbara A. Daugherty Bayly Koscoe of Cambridge and the late Carlos E. Bayly.
He was a Methodist by faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Friends may

Francis Eugene "Curly" Clark, 88, formerly of Coshocton, passed away on
Tuesday, February, 17, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in
death by his parents Henry and Ellen Irene Clark and sister Gertrude Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Grueterman Clark; daughters
Vicki Clark of Zanesville and Becky DeVennish of Bexley; and by one
granddaughter Breann Gonzalez of Falls Church, VA. Curly served with the
U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations during WWII, was employed by
Clow Corporation for 37 years, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. As
an avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a charter
member of Hickory Flats Golf Club. Calling hours will be held on Friday,
February 20, 2009 at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, from 6-8 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 10:00
A.M. with Father William Hritsko officiating. Burial will follow at

o Granger, John E. "Jack", 83

ZANESVILLE - John E. "Jack" Granger, 83, of Zanesville, passed away after a
period of declining health at 8:25 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Genesis
Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Zanesville, the son
of the late Leon Malcolm and Florence R. Coyle Granger. He was a lifelong
member of Central Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Muskingum
County Farm Bureau, Pleasant Grove Grange and the American Angus
Association. He was a farmer and served his country as a U.S. Navy World War
II veteran. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Julia L. Lee Granger, whom
he married Sept. 16, 1951, of the home; two nephews, Richard (Angela) Smith
of Orrville and Ronald (Terri) Smith of Dover; three great-nephews, Joshua,
Jason and Hunter Smith; a great-niece, Nicole Smith; several cousins; and a
sister-in-law, Alice (Duane) Smith of Newcomerstown. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Granger; and a
sister-in-law, Peggy Granger. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday,
Feb. 19, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., and one hour
prior to services. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20,

DUNCAN FALLS - Victoria Renee Hamilton, 50, of Zanesville, passed away at
7:02 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Vicky was born
March 20, 1958, in Zanesville, the daughter of Wilda K. Hanning of
Zanesville and the late Richard Hamilton. She attended the Trinity Full
Gospel Church in South Zanesville. Vicky is survived by four sons, Rusty
Hamilton of Zanesville, Eric Hamilton of Pleasant City, Ben Kullman of
Zanesville and Wesley Ginsler of California; three daughters, Misty Hamilton
(BJ Brownfield), Heather Hamilton and Stacy Kullman, all of Zanesville;
seven brothers, George, Larry, Billy, Steve, Harry, Berry and Charlie
Hamilton, all of Zanesville; three sisters, Connie Stewart, Rita Kelly and
Peggy Hamilton, all of Zanesville; and five grandchildren, Katelynn,
Brooklynn, Nevaeh, Quira and Hunter and one on the way. In addition to her
father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Hamilton; and two
brothers, Bryce Hamilton and Richard Hanning. Calling hours will begin at

David F. Morgan, 70 of Zanesville, died 6:15 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009
at Cedar Hill Care Center Zanesville. He was born Friday, July 15, 1938 in
Zanesville, the son of David Morgan Gorgia (Fowler) Morgan. He married Wanda
(Mayle) Morgan on Monday, February 06, 1961. David was a veteran of the
United States Army. He retired from the Maintenance Department of Zanesville
City Schools following many years of service. David was a member of the DAV,
enjoyed hunting and loved to play music and sing. David is survived by his
mother; one daughter: Diana Morgan; one son: Gerald Morgan; six
grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother: Ruben Morgan; one
special sister-in-law: Linda Morgan and several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews. In addition to his wife and father, David was preceded in death by

ZANESVILLE - Frances Louise Summers, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 10:25
p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at her home. She was born May 6, 1919, in
Zanesville, the daughter of the late Helen Kumick Butryn and Thomas Butryn.
Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United
Methodist Women's Circle. She was a former employee of Mosaic Tile Co. for
28 years and then worked for Adornetto's for 28 years, from which she
retired at the age of 78. Frances is survived by four loving and devoted
daughters, twin daughters, JoAnn Jenkins of Zanesville and JoAnna (Ron)
Shelly of Georgetown, Texas, Sandra (John) Rostek of Massillon and Carolyn
Browning of Norwich; a sister, Julia Shumate; several nieces and nephews;
five grandchildren, Eric Parmater of Los Angeles, Calif., Matthew Parmater
of Columbus, Susan Parmater of Cape Cod, Mass., Bradley Browning of
Portland, Ore. and Kristen Balala of Massillon; and two great-grandchildren,
Tony and Derek. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death
by her husband, Harry, who passed away March 22, 1951; four sisters,
Theophia, Josephine, Della and Sophia; two brothers, Peter and Joseph; three
sons-in-law, Phillip Snyder, Bill Jenkins and John Browning; and a grandson,

o Swank, Elinor Pfeifer Staley, 82 (Pfeifer)

Elinor Marie Swank, 82, a life long resident of Zanesville passed away
peacefully at home on Friday, February 13, at 9:35 pm. Elinor was born Dec
28, 1926, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Fred and Mary Pfeifer. She
graduated in 1944 from St. Nicholas High School and was a parishioner of St.
Nicholas Catholic Church. On April 12, 1947, she married her first husband
Charles Edwin Staley. Together, they owned and operated Robec Jewelers Inc.
in the Country Fair Shopping Center for 18 years. On March 18, 1978, Elinor
married her second husband Aaron Eugene Swank. Elinor loved traveling,
playing cards, billiards, gardening, and especially fishing. In recent
years, going up to Conneaut, OH with her special friend, Keith Elliot,
became the highlight of her summers. Elinor is survived by her two
daughters, Rebecca (Stephen) Shiplett of Lexington, KY and Gretchen (John)
Ringhisen of Edmond, OK. She also has six grandchildren; Stephen James
Shiplett and his wife Danaye of Huntsville, AL; Bryan Charles Shiplett and
his wife Tressa of Chanhassen, MN; Meghan Lea Tower of Lexington, KY; John
Justin Ringhisen and his wife Melissa of West Point, NY; Corey Michael
Ringhisen and his wife Mary of Chicago, IL; Alyssa Marie Rowan and her
husband Michael of Princeton, NJ. She was blessed with five
great-grandchildren; Matthew Zane Tower and Jesse Charles Tower of
Lexington, KY; John Patrick Ringhisen and Trevor Alfred Ringhisen of West
Point, NY; and Andrew Michael Rowan of Princeton, NJ; and one
step-granddaughter, Michaela Shoemaker of Chanhassen, MN. In addition,
Elinor is survived by four step-children; Gary E Swank of Southlake, TX;
Susan (James) Thorne of Zanesville, OH; Barbara Swank of Deltona, FL; Betty
Wood of Worthington, OH; and 11 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great
grandchildren. Elinor is also survived by two sisters; Mary Lou (Harold)
Roessler and Margaret (Clyde) Perrine both of Zanesville, OH; two brothers
Gerald (Glenna) Pfeifer of Zanesville, OH; John "Jack" (Betty) Pfeifer of
Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. In
addition to her parents, Elinor was preceded in death by her first husband,
Chalres Edwin Staley, on May 29 1975; her second husband, Aaron Eugene
Swank, on March 3, 1990; her son, Stephen Charles Staley, on September 23,
1978; two brothers, Robert and Walter Pfeifer; and two sisters, Rita Winters
and Gertrude Long. The family will recieve friends from 6-8 pm, Friday,
February 20, 2009, at Hillis-Hardwick Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be
celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Nicholas Catholic
Church with burial to immediately follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. The family
requests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St.
Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Elinor's name in lieu of flowers.

DRESDEN - Ruby K. Swope, 92, of Dresden, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17,
2009, at Autumn HealthCare of Coshocton. Mrs. Swope was born July 15, 1916,
in Dresden, a daughter of the late Carl and Gail Ford Lutz. She had worked
at the Bush Woolen Mill in Dresden and been a bookkeeper for Stafford's
Garage and Cannon's Bakery. Mrs. Swope had retired from Essex Wire in
Zanesville. She is survived by her children, Sandy Fannin of Dresden, Judy
(Donnie) Saylor of Trinway, Rita (Tom) Pollock of Dresden, Fred (Samantha)
Swope of Dresden; a daughter-in-law, Judy Swope of Dresden; her
grandchildren, Mike (Lisa) Swope, Shelly (Brent) Weisend, Rusty (Mindy)
Swope, Dale (Linette) Swope, Lori (Keith) Cody, Rick (Carrie) King, Chad
(Laurie) King, Cindy (Fin) Revannaugh, Troy Luburgh, Todd (Marie) Luburgh,

Lance Swope; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters,

the special friends she made at Autumn HealthCare of Coshocton, especially
the staff who provided extraordinary care the past two years. She was
preceded in death by her husband, whom she married March 14, 1937, Frederick
C. (Fritz) Swope, who passed away Nov. 7, 1972; a son, Jan Swope, who passed
away Aug. 3, 1993; a great-grandson, Nicholas Weisend; a son-in-law, Ray
Fannin; and two sisters, Virginia Lutz and Patricia Lutz. Calling hours

ZANESVILLE - Corey Allen Taylor, 19, of Zanesville, died at 9:45 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, in Hopewell. He was born Sept. 17, 1989, in
Zanesville, to Jamie Searls and the late Kenneth Taylor. He was employed by
Tyson and Sons Lawn Care. In addition to his mother of Zanesville, he is
survived by his grandmother, Graci Searls of Zanesville; grandfather, Jim
Searls of Zanesville; great-grandmothers, Rose Varian of Cambridge and Kate
Searls of Zanesville; great-aunt, Ruth Wilson of Columbus; two uncles,
Jordan Searls of Blue Rock and Brody Searls of Duncan Falls; and a host of
family and friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by
his brother, Alex Searls; and two great-grandfathers, Sidney Varian and Jack

o Woodrum, Cecil Evan, 85

NEW CONCORD - Cecil Evan Woodrum, 85, of New Concord, was called home by the
Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, after a long illness. He was a resident at
The Inn at Summerville. Cecil was born March 8, 1923, in Nelsonville, a son
of the late William and Bessie Rutter Woodrum. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II, as a sergeant platoon leader, Company L, 182nd
Infantry, America division in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from 1943-1945.
While there, Cecil earned several valued war decorations including a Purple
Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a former employee of the Toledo Board of
Education and retired from Ohio University-Zanesville as the director of the
Physical Plant in May 1977. He was well known as a beloved husband, father,
grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Violet E. "Vi" Young
Woodrum, his sweetheart, whom he married Aug. 20, 1943; son, Kent (Rita)
Woodrum of Zanesville; daughters, Kandy (Terry) Simmons of Norwich and Beth
(Vince) Durant of New Concord; grandchildren, Scott Shumate of Norwich, Erin
Shumatte of Canal Winchester, Trevor Woodrum of New Lexington, Ellie Woodrum
of Zanesville, Kayt Durant of New Concord and Seth Durant of New Concord; as
well as five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by an infant son; sisters, Violet Phillips and Mamie
McGuire; and brothers, Chester and Muriel Woodrum. Calling hours will be 2
to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W.
Main St., New Concord. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21,
2009, at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Blood officiating. Burial will be
in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Guernsey County
