Subject: Trying again on BASS surname
Date: Sat, 5 Aug 2000 10:45:23 -0500

I am trying to find anything at all on James Bass born in Ohio, about 1861
and John Bass born about 1865-1867 Ohio. I think they were brothers, as the
went to Kansas together and stayed together there. James married a Jennie
Hatchet, I believe in Belmont County, Ohio, although the I can not get any
books to prove it, on interlibrary loan. I have heard that a Wes Crochran
has books out, but I am unable to get them. There is two Bass/Hatchet
marriages in them, I was told, but do not know what the first names are as
the person doing the look up, did not put them in the correspondence. John
went on to Oklahoma with one of his nieces and there they lived. There is
no information on John's death certificate to help me, and there was no
newspaper obit. I have not found one for his niece either. I do not know
where James went after leaving Kansas. I do know that he and Jennie
divorced. I do not know who their parents were or how to get back this
brick wall, as John Bass was our grandfather. He died in 1935 before we
were born. John was married once, to Josie Elizabeth Williams, they had one
son in 1895. She died around 1900, and their son went to her parents and
were raised, so the son did not know his father all that well. Any ideas?
