As I've mentioned before, I've used GOOGLE for some time; however, I never
paid too much attention to the downloadable search bar that you can get from
the site. Needless to say, I downloaded it today and I couldn't believe the
fun I've had with the "Site Search" part of the bar. If you want to find
out what I mean, go to any site with "loads" of information, such as
itsg.rootsweb.com (Ship Passenger Lists), and do a site search on one of
your ancestor's name. Do the same thing at www.rootsweb.com and you'll
never get off of your computer. Much, much faster than the local site
search. You can do the same thing with the Advanced Search (and a little
more), but the search bar is a whole lot easier. By the way, I have no
financial attachment to GOOGLE. I'm currently using all variations of my
family name, FERGUSON, to search and will have quite a few pages to search
through. I'm trying to find out when my ALEXANDER FERGUSON came over to
America from IRELAND (sometime between 1790 and 1850). If my brick walls
get higher, I may have to join one of the yearly subscription sites, but
right now I'm having too much fun. Cheers!!!
