I searched for David May in the index to the 1850 Census for Ohio.

I found one that looked promising in Fairfield County, Liberty Township, page 180, visit 714

Mary Brown, 70 born in Pennsylvania
David May, 38 Farmer
Mary A., 30
Daniel, 13
Elizabeth, 11
Benjamin, 9
Mary, 6
Jacob, 4
David, 1

all of the Mays were listed as being born in Fairfield County, Ohio.
