A new book has just been published entitled "The Rattlesnake and The Ramsey: The History of the Lorain, Ashland & Southern Railroad". This hardcover edition is a 478 page work about a little known railroad in north central Ohio that operated from 1894-1925. The book contains an extensive index and personnel roster listing hundreds of employees who worked for or were associated with the LA&S and its seven predecessor lines during the period. There are few railroad employee records available to genealogists before the 1930s and this book adds to the research about those men who toiled for the railroads at the turn-of-the-century. There are a few listings for Italian and Romanian workers who served as section men on the line.
List price is $49.95 + $4.50 S&H. Ohio residents must add 7.25% sales tax.
