Bruce,

I have been searching for years for information on a Purdy family and
wondered if your family could possibly be related. Did any of your Purdy's
live in Lawrence and/or Gallia Counties?

David Purdy. (Source: Lawrence County Marriage records, Mahala A(nn) PURDY
Marriage: 30 Apr 1884 Lawrence County, Ohio)

Mahalia Wood Purdy Lambert was born October 1852. She was the eldest
daughter of William Perry Wood and Betheny (Purdy) Wood, b. abt. 1838. Her
parents lived in Gallia County Ohio. They were poor farmers and William also
did some carpentry work. Her mother was 14 years old when she was born.
Mahalia married David E. Purdy on 18 Oct 1869, Gallia County. She was 17
years old. In the 1880 Ohio Census she is living with her parents, her name
is listed as Mahalia Wood, and it states that she is a widow. There is also
a Rosetta J. Wood listed as 4 months old. (b. 1880) and a granddaughter to
William and Bethany Wood.

There must have been some connection between David E. Purdy's family and
Mahalia's mother Betheny Purdy. I am trying to find what happened to David
and what family he belongs.

Thank you, June Jordan
