Hi June,

I am copying this to the list since it contains more detail on my Purdy line
than I have posted on the Shelby list. I have posted most on the Darke list
as that is where I find most of my Purdy's

Amway, I have only found my Purdy's in Darke. I am not positive I have all
of the children, but here is what I have starting from me backwards:

1. Bruce D. Purdy Jr. (b. Lucas CO, OH)

2. Bruce D Purdy Sr. (b. 1941 Lucas CO, OH) (My Dad had three brothers all
born in Lucas as well. )

3. William Elbert Purdy Jr (b. Miami CO 1903; d Lucas CO, 1986) (grandpa
Purdy was the youngest of 7 possibly 10 children. 3 were half siblings with
the last name Sutton. He had an Older brother Forest that moved to Delaware
and passed away there. 2 others were sisters) I say possibly 10 because I
find a William Purdy in 1880 with three children this William marries in
1872? and then I find a William Marrying in 1893 to Elizabeth Sutton (my
grandmother) may not be the same person, but I am still investigating.

4. William E Purdy Sr. (b Darke CO in 1850, d. Montgomery CO around 1928 (I
have the exact date if you need it.) He had a brother Edmon and a sister
Fanny. Edmond stayed in the Darke / Miami area and died around 1898.

5. Linus Purdy (b. Darke around 1828) Linus married Amanda Hartman in 1848.
She divorced him in 1871. both Amanda and Linus were re-married. There is
a reference to Linus Marrying an Elmira Bitler in Wapakoneta. Linus was
living with an Eliz J in 1870 in Wapakoneta. (This is also the same place
that Amanda testified that he was living) in 1880, there is a Linus living
with a Mary and three older children - much to old to be his unless - well,
no one wants to speak terribly of their grandfather :) I do not have a
death date or location for him.

6. Edmund Purdy (b 1791 Maryland) died before 1855 in Darke Co, though the
gravesite is unknown. According to what I can gather from his will, there
are 6 daughters. I thought that there were 2 sons- Edmund and Linus.
However, Edmund may be a bad reference in that it relates to a marriage in
1851. #6 first wife died in 1846. His second wife was named Mary. hey had
a son John R, who was only 1 or 2 when Edmund died. My guess is that the
second Edmund is really the first since the only reference relates to the
marriage.

Hope this helps. I would love to expand the Purdy tree - this has been the
most difficult line I have yet to follow.

Regards,

Bruce
