Everton's "Handybook for Genealogists" (Eighth Edition) says that
the State of Ohio kept death records starting in 1908. Although this
doesn't help you, since the record you seek is for a 1905 death, I'll give
the address for post-1908 records here, anyway, in case someone else on
the this list might find it helpful:
Division of Vital Statistics
Ohio Department of Health
65 South Front Street
Columbus, OH 43216
To verify current fees, you can call: 614-466-2531. They also might be
able to give you some guidance as to where else to look for a 1905 death
record. As you may know, death records were sometimes filed before they
became required.
