**Civil War Vet CSA h/o Sallie (b.1856 d. 1936) ************************************************************The
Carter Express *23 Sep 1921 **Mr.R.D.ALLEN,better known by the people here
as "Uncle Bob" ALLEN,passed away on Wednesday afternoon of last week,after
several weeks of illness.Besides being given the best of medical attention
to stay the disease and relieve his suffering,a special nurse had been
employed to care for him during his last illness,but the grim reaper of
death had made a final call and Uncle Bob passed away.Uncle Bob had been
an old Confederate soldier and lost an arm in the great conflict.He was
an old settler here and had a great many friends in Carter and throughout
this part of the country.The burial took place at the Carter cemetery on
Thursday following his death.A large crowd of relatives and friends were
present at the cemetery.Rev.REECE,pastor of the Methodist church here,conducted
the funeral rites.Deceased is survived by his wife,and other relatives
residing in different parts of the country.****Aunt Sallie ALLEN is now
visiting with relatives in Texas having returned with her sister and husband,Mr.and
Mrs.HARDEN,of Burkburnett,who had been here to attend the funeral of Uncle
Bob.
