STROKE FATAL TO COUNTY PIONEER *Funeral services were to be held Wednesday
afternoon at the First Methodist church of Sayre for Peter Thomas HAWKINS,74
year old Beckham County Pioneer,who died suddenly early Tuesday.

Mr.HAWKINS was going about his chores Tuesday morning when he was striken
with a heart attack.

Known to his friends as "Uncle Pete".He had lived on a farm four miles
south and four miles east of Sayre for 37 years.He homesteade on the farm
and was one of the earliest settlers in this section.Mr.HAWKINS was born
February 1864 in Tennessee.He has been a member of the Methodist church
for 10 Years.

Survivors are four sons.Forrist,Mark,Otis,Willis?all of Sayre and 3 daughters.

Burial will be in the Carter cemetery.Rev.J.L.DAVIS of the Sayre Methodist
church will officiate of the rites.
